F800GS, F900GS and F900GS Adventure: the new BMW Motorrad motorcycles in 2023

A strong year for BMW, 2023 marked the anniversary of its Motorsport range, celebrating its 50th anniversary but also the hundredth anniversary of the slogan “Make Life a Ride”. This year was therefore marked by the release of many items in retro style, whether motorcycle equipment, lifestyle clothing or motorcycle accessories.

On the motorcycle side, we were also treated to new unique colors for different models, as well as new motorcycles, notably the anniversary R NineT. That wasn't all! BMW announced, in September 2023, three new motorcycles which will be released in 2024. Discover them now with our experts.

BMW release: what are the new motorcycles?

After the release of the R18 Roctane and although the M1000XR has been announced and is highly anticipated, BMW gave us a nice surprise by releasing three other new models, this September 7, 2023. Which ones are they?

A new edition of the F800GS has been announced, more efficient than the previous one and with new colors.

An F900GS and its Adventure version were also revealed, joining the Adventure motorcycle range in a new displacement.

F800GS: a new improved model

If the F800GS had already existed since 2007 with two reissues, in 2013 then 2016, it had not been produced since 2018. A model popular with motorcyclists, we still find it in circulation, even today. In 2024, a new F 800 GS will be released, full of new features.

Here are the different packs and their contents:

  • The Comfort Pack: contains the Endurance M chain, the Keyless Ride option, GPS preparation, cruise control and the Vario suitcase support.

  • Handlebar riser;
  • A Touring screen;
  • additional headlamps;
  • A protective stirrup as well as an engine guard.

For customization and performance, an Akrapovic silencer is available as well as enduro footrests.

F900GS: a new GS for endurance off-road

If this displacement was not part of the enduro models until now, BMW has chosen to now offer two versions: the F900GS and its Adventure equivalent. Optimized for power and enduro performance, this bike is made for off-road.

Options available for F900GS

Just like for the F800GS, BMW has done well with the standard equipment for this F900GS, however this does not prevent the availability of even more options! Intended for off-road enthusiasts, its enduro side can be taken even further.

Among these, there are for example:

  • The Enduro Pro Pack: contains a sports chassis, black handlebars, a handlebar riser, SHOWA 45 mm sports suspension, an adjustable ZF/Sachs rear shock absorber and the Endurance M chain.
  • The Dynamic Pack: contains the Shifter Pro, the Pro and MSR driving modes.
  • The Pro finish: contains the Dynamic pack, the Keyless Ride option, the Endurance M chain, GPS preparation, the RDC sensor, cruise control, anti-theft alarm and intelligent emergency call and teleservices.

  • The ConnectedRide Navigator.

With all that, there is plenty of room to have a tailor-made motorcycle according to your tastes and needs.

F900GS Adventure: an even more enduro version

If the F900GS is intended for enduro, it is no less true for its Adventure version. Just as for larger models such as the R1200GS, the R1250GS and others, BMW has announced the release of an Adventure version of the F900GS, to the delight of adventurers.

F900GS Adventure 2023

What is the difference between the F900GS Adventure and the F900GS?

Especially intended for enduro, trails and off-road, the F900GS Adventure offers similar performance on a chassis with a 5 mm lower wheelbase. We also gain 5 mm more on the saddle height which then comes to 875 mm for the standard version (compared to 870 mm on the F900GS). The Adventure model is taller overall, perfect for standing on enduro rides.

Ready for your long outings, the tank capacity is greatly improved with 23l for the Adventure model, compared to 14.5l for the F900GS. This load implies a greater weight, with 246 kg empty, fully loaded, or 27 kg more than the classic version.

Another difference is found in the price, which sees an added €500 including tax for the base model, which however is largely justified in view of the standard equipment.

The equipment of the F900GS Adventure

Equipped for enduro but also long rides, the F900GS Adventure presents a complete range of equipment, which can be adjusted according to your needs.

As standard, we find:

  • A 6.5” TFT screen;
  • ABS Pro;
  • 2 driving modes: Rain and Pro;
  • Heated handles;
  • LED headlights and indicators;
  • The adjustable Touring screen;
  • A 12V socket and a USB socket;
  • An aluminum engine guard;
  • Hand guards;
  • A pack of aluminum suitcase supports.

The options available for this motorcycle include:

  • Dynamic ESA mode;
  • Pro driving modes;
  • Additional LED projectors;
  • The Shifter Pro;
  • The Keyless Ride;
  • The RDC sensor;
  • The intelligent emergency call;
  • The different luggage systems;
  • And much more.

In short, this F900GS Adventure is perfect if you are mainly looking for great autonomy in a versatile mid-size model, which you can use both in the city, on the roads and off the beaten track.
