ConnectedRide Navigator: the new 100% motorcycle BMW Motorrad GPS

On September 7, 2023, BMW Motorrad announced the release of its new accessory for BMW riders and motorcycles: the ConnectedRide Navigator. Much more than a simple GPS, this new BMW product is part of the BMW Cloud but also in the BMW Motorrad technological ecosystem.

If BMW motorcycles have more and more technology and features, it is in particular because BMW Motorrad has understood that the vehicles of the future must be the perfect compromise between tradition and modernity. It is also this ideology which made possible the release of this ConnectedRide Navigator on the occasion of the release of the new GS: the F900GS, the F900GS Adventure and the new F800GS.

BMW motorcycle GPS: what has been the situation so far?

Used for many years now, GPS has already been available in a motorcycle version, notably at BMW Motorrad with the GPS Navigator VI.

With a wide range of motorcycles, including touring, city but also GS for off-road outings, BMW had to offer a suitable system allowing you to find your way at any time.

GPS Navigator VI, the only BMW motorcycle GPS available until then, already included advanced features designed for motorcycles. Thought out and developed in partnership with Garmin, the GPS already offered functionalities dedicated to motorcycles with the use of the multicontroller and motorcycle routes.

ConnectedRide: a connected ecosystem by and for BMW Motorrad

BMW Motorrad High Tech equipment is increasingly numerous, particularly within the BMW Motorrad ConnectedRide collection which this Navigator joins. A pioneer in technology dedicated to bikers and motorcycles, BMW is revolutionizing accessories by creating an ecosystem entirely designed by bikers and for bikers riding BMW motorcycles.

Previously consisting of a connected phone holder, the ConnectedRide Cradle, an intercom, the ConnectedRide Com U1 and connected glasses, the ConnectedRide Smartglasses, the ecosystem is now expanding with the Navigator.

Each element can be connected by Bluetooth to the others, for example with the Navigator connected to the intercom and the glasses, while being connected to your phone and motorcycle. This set of technology aims to make motorcycle rides more pleasant and gathering information more comfortable. For example, you can display GPS data on your smart glasses, listen to instructions in your intercom and manage different information and functions via the GPS Navigator and your motorcycle's multi-controller.

The ConnectedRide Navigator: a connected GPS

Just like its predecessor and especially as a member of the ConnectedRide range, the ConnectedRide Navigator is made to be connected, to your motorcycle, your smartphone but also to the world.

Connected to BMW

This new BMW GPS is designed to be used with your BMW ID which will connect, thanks to the BMW Cloud, your account on the BMW Motorrad Connected application to your new GPS. This way you will be able to access and synchronize your saved routes and journeys from your phone, computer and GPS.

This connection to BMW can also translate to the connection to your motorcycle itself. By connecting your Navigator to your motorcycle, you can then use the multi-controller to control it.

Connected to your intercom and your connected glasses, you can create a technological package around your BMW motorcycle.

Connected to your smartphone

The Navigator ConnectedRide can also be connected to your phone, notably to stream music, for example via Spotify or any other application, but also to make and take calls.

Connected to the world

In order to receive and transmit the most accurate information possible, the GPS can be connected to your phone's internet network using an access point, or receive a SIM card. With a SIM card, you don't need to use your phone's data and your GPS can then be used independently, which will reduce your phone's battery consumption.

This connection to your phone or to the internet directly also allows you to be informed about updating the maps.

This GPS network connection allows you to transmit precise traffic information in real time.

A versatile interface for a motorcycle GPS

Under its 5.5-inch screen designed to be bright and anti-reflective, visible at all times (bad weather, sun, etc.), the Navigator interface is versatile and complete.

More than just a GPS, this new high-tech BMW accessory will show you your route, but also your music and your calls.

On the Navigator interface, you can even save your contacts so you no longer have to use the phone to make calls.
